My assignment Today in writing 101 is to talk about my three favorite songs. I suppose this is something fairly easy for most people, but that is not the case for someone in my line of work. I mean, not only do we have to be on top of what is hot in order to keep our younger clients happy but we need to keep good track of what has been happening throughout the years in not one but many different genres of music. Therefore we have to listen to a lot of different songs. As a matter of fact, when people listen to my iTunes they don't understand why it has no club music at all, my iTunes is filled with classical music, doo-wop and Colombian music you would not understand.
As a newfound love in writing and always having lived around music, there is a goal I have in life which is to write a song at some point in time, so I am going to have to say that one of my favorite songs has not even been born yet and I sure hope to be the father of that baby.
This leaves me with two more favorite songs. I am not sure I can pinpoint a specific song but there is an artist who makes me feel comfortable and at peace at every location or moment of my life. That is Bob Marley, I'm not sure what it is about his music and the sound of his voice that sometimes I don't even understand the words he is saying, but I can sure as hell feel them. This is good music to go to sleep, to listen to on a road trip, at the beach, when drinking with friends, it just matches every occasion and never fails. Not so good at the club, unless you are opening or closing, or if you have a themed night that needs good reggae or island vibes.
Last but not least I have to pick a favorite song that might be weird but has a meaning behind it. There is a famous song by a group called ABBA and the song Chiquitita, this is an oldie but goodie, the song has actually been redone with a more modern beat, but the same vibe and lyrics. Don,t even ask me what the song is about. There is one good reason why I love the song and that is because it just takes me on a travel back in time quick trip to having a great time with my late Mother. She passed when I was very young so my memories of her are more pictures than actual memories, but I do remember very well how loud she played that song and how Happy she seemed when it came on. I enjoy it very much and more than that enjoy remembering where I came from and the people that matter most.
With that said and trying to stay on track with the general idea of the Blog, I can give all future Nightlife entrepreneurs a tip regarding the music in their lives. that is Stay true to yourself, never forget where you came from, try to cater to people that are like you, that like the things that you like, music, food, sports, etc. It is always easier to deliver a better event or party if you know what your clients want, and this starts with the music they want to hear.
